The Therapeutic Shoe Bill enacted by Congress in 1993 stipulates that Medicare cover the cost of diabetic footwear and three pairs of diabetic foot inserts each calendar year for patients with diabetes. Thirty-nine states require private insurers to provide a comparable footwear benefit.

Occasionally, we are unable to fit a customer with an off-the-shelf shoe. In these cases, we would make a fiberglass cast of the foot upon which the shoe can be designed. A customer can still chose from numerous styles and colors.(top)
